Youth-centered, non-profit NGO YONECO has seen its star continue to glitter with the Malawi Family Planning Youth Focal Person for 2020 meticulously selected from its robust array of staff.
Comfort Chizinga – Coordinator for LINKAGES Project at YONECO – has been selected by Family Planning 2020 to represent Malawi on issues of family planning between May 2019 and December 2020. Family Planning 2020 is a global partnership that supports the rights of women and girls to decide – freely and for themselves – whether, when, and how many children they want to have.
Chizinga expressed great excitement after the appointment and she implored her fellow youth to always aim higher.
“As young people we need to be aware of ourpotential, believe in our capabilities and neverunderrate small beginnings,” said Chizinga.
Among her numerous responsibilities, she will facilitate a transparent and symbiotic flow of information between focal points and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). This will include payingclose attention to obstacles that may hinder progress on commitments, such as poor quality service provision, limited contraceptive choice, funding gaps, and inadequate protection of women’s rights.
Chizinga was selected as Malawi FP2020 Youth Focal Person following a scrupulous process that saw her rise above all the participants due to her youth leadership skills, nursing profession, and affiliation to a youth led
organization.
